Planning a wedding can be overwhelming because, oftentimes, you don’t know what you don’t know! Here’s some helpful information to get you started.
- Decide on the number of guests – I know this can be difficult in the beginning. However, the number of guests will dictate your venue options or vice versa. The size of the venue will dictate the number of guests you can invite. Keep in mind, the guest count also affects your catering budget as well.
2. Discuss with your fiancée your most important factor.
- Venue – a totally dreamy venue with all the amenities you want
- Photography – you want the photographer/videographer you’re been quietly following for months because you love the style of their photographs.
- Florals – you want all the beautiful flowers and décor to transform the space into your fantasy.
- Band/DJ – you want the party that everyone will be talking about for weeks afterwards.
- Food – if you and your partner are food people, you may want your menu to be an experience all of it’s own.
- After deciding what your most important items are, this will help determine your budget. THIS is where your planner becomes key. We know what things cost. Most likely this is your first wedding and things have changed since your mom and dad got married. We can give you reasonable pricing expectations and help you build a budget according to your needs, wants and finances.
- Start checking out venues! Make a list of your must have items in the venue. Also include what their pricing includes, i.e. tables, chairs, etc. Personally I like to do several venue tours in a short time period. I find this helps you compare what you did or didn’t like about a specific venue.
- Lastly, your wedding day is about the two of you! It should reflect the love you have for each other. So personalize it! If you love camping, do some smores for dessert. If you love tacos, bring in a taco truck! Make your wedding day reflect you as a couple so that when a guest walks in, they KNOW they’re in the right place.
